Friend VS Acquaintance

Who is Jess?

Jesse Welsh is an old dear friend of mine that I meet 20 years ago when we moved in to the projects behind the Coke-A-Cola Plant on HWY 14 in like '85! We stayed real good "friends" even after he moved.....we were like 7! I use to go stay the night at his house for like the whole weekend! It was cool.
I remember one night we had a bad storm or a transformer blew or something. Anyway, I woke up in the middle of the night and Tammi was up. I don't remember the details because it a long time ago and a lot has happened in life over 17 years, but I still remember the dream that I had.
It was as simple as I moved in with them and became part of the family.
Over time I had become part of the family and I still talk to Nana (Tammi's mom). A few years ago when I came back from Japan (I think), I went to see Nana and we called Jess. I found out that he was getting married and all that good shit.
Well, he e-mailed me not too long ago and gave me his blog site and phone number. I called him last night and we talked for an hour! He is doing well!
So, this got me thinking about friends! Webster defines 'friend' as:
1 a : one attached to another by affection or esteem

To me this is interesting because I have always thought of the 2 as a differentiation between people I share parts of my life with and people I tolerate (plus the 89% of people that I just don't like).A best friend is some one you can talk to once every 3 years, months or weeks and feel like nothing has changed. I have one of these and we are more along the once every 6 months time line. I know she will be there for me no matter what happens and she knows I will drop the world for her if she needs me too (we have both done it). Then I have less than 5 true life friends that I have known pre-navy that I talk to off and on. Now, just standard friends maybe 10! Everyone else acquaintance!

The good the bad and the ugly

I had the unfortunate experience of having a cyst. Needless to say, it was painfully removed (yes I am a weenie and have 0 pain tolerance). (This is the bad and the ugly.) I spent my entire birthday weekend hobbling around in pain and getting laughed at!
Yesterday, I painfully drove the 25 miles to Seattle and dropped off my digital camera to get fixed. Today I found out that it was an LCD problem and would only cost me $32 to send off and get fixed. YEAH. It takes 4-6 weeks. BOO.

Huh, this is too funny. Where do people come up with this shit. What is worse, that someone came up with it, or that I read it and then e-mailed a link to my friends because I thought it was so damn funny?

Have you ever gotten into it with a friend....over something stupid? Well, when I get sick, one of two things happens: 1. I get really touchy feely with 'Mr Right Now' or 2. I am a total bitch to everyone I come in contact with. I have recently been sick. I took the path on #2 and warned everyone....."Don't fuck with me I don't feel good."
Well, this past Sunday, I went and met some friends at a local restaurant. They had been drinking and watching football. When I got there, I reminded Robert that I did not want to be fucked with. What does he do? You got it, started giving me shit. What really sucks is that I had already placed my order for a burger and fries. I threw the menu at him, told him to cancel my order and left.
Today he came over for supper and we have talked a bit over the last few days. We had to go to the store because I knew what I wanted for supper, I just did not know that I was missing the main ingredient (that we could not find!) I ended up improvising and we ended up getting a pineapple.
If you are like me and don't often splurge on fresh fruit, you should change your ways. No sooner than he cut the top off, the smell of sweet pineapple filled the air. It tasted even better than it smelled. With that, we are now back to normal.....bitching at each other like nothing ever happened.

OH MY.....DUH!

So, I get this e-mail last night "blah.....blah.....I just can't help myself from going to improper or porn sites even at work. I don't know why, but I just have to click on them" WOW......I personally am not a huge fan of porn, but if that is what you are into, so be it. There is a time for work and a time for play. Sometimes....there is a time for work and play......HELLO....THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM!
I am very picky about money and the thing that brings me money, my job. So I am very picky about what I do there and do virtually nothing that will jeopardize my cash intake. This is crazy.
I also have to evaluate a friendship. This may seem harsh, but like your parent's said "You are the company that you keep." To me, it would be different if an e-mail had been opened and you go "Oh shit"....and close it. This makes me wonder about this person's moral and ethical character. 1-Porn at work.....no! 2-who is doing this person's work while they are looking at porn.....someone has to be! 3-no self control.....not a good thing!
I just find this funny, because this came up in general conversations before and nothing was said. Now, all this sudden, it is a big deal.....So really, I have also been lied to. Those of you who know me know that I would rather you tell me that I am a waste of a human brain and hurt my feelings than lie to me about what color socks you have on........

As usual, I forgot

I was thinking the other day that I wanted to make a few entries, partialy because Karen has a blog that she uses like daily and I thought it was cool, so I started one and never make entries. I thought it would be a good release of frustration or a great way to share happiness, but I never get a chance to write in it.
Then, I am scared to say anything because apparently these lil online diaries can get you into a world of shit and we all know how the military is!

It has been a long time......haze gray and underway sucks! (not really that bad, you just miss a ton of stuff that we take for granted everyday) My family from New Orleans is okay! A few shingles here and there, but nothing major. My family in Lake Charles is okay. Unfortunately, my bestfriend's mom lost her trailer.....3 trees in one home. I cannot imagine. They are all safe and sound and that is what is important.
